An importer of honey receives steel drums mainly from the African jungle but by the time they arrive at the factory they can be rather battered and misshapen. In order to empty them, the lids are removed, the drum inverted and rested on hot water pipes over a large container to drain its contents.
A fork mounted drum rotator was designed with a half steel band and webbing straps to handle even the most deformed drums. The drum is attached to the rotator, rotated via a 50:1 ratio gearbox and lowered into place on the heated bars. The drum is then released from the forklift and left to drain. Changes were made to the standard fastening because with the drum inverted, the fasting is now on the opposite side to where it started.
Cost effective, simple to use and safe, the rotator can be removed quickly leaving the fork truck free to undertake other duties.BACK TO APPLICATIONS
